Trans Fluid Capacity
Trans Fluid Capacity
I'm getting ready to swap my +3 fluid for some dexron to help give my tranny a fighting chance of lasting until my DTT goes in. Before yall worry, I'm running a DTT valve body and they recommend +3 or dexron because they have less friction modifiers in them and hold better. The dexron has less than the +3 so that's why I'm gonna run it. Anywho, my question is this, the FSM calls for 6 quarts for a complete overhaul and since I've added a double deep pan which adds another 4 qts, I should need 10 qts all said and done, right? Or am I wrong in my thinking? I know I won't be able to get the fluid out of the TC but I can get about 90% of the total fluid out. Thanks for the help yall and sorry for the simple question but I'm **** when it comes to my tranny and I just wanna make sure that I don't under/over fill/buy. Thanks.
In the past I've run ine of the cooling lines out from under the truck into a large bucket and watch the fluid till it runs clean , while have a large funnel and hose set up for filling , I just refuse to give the tool venders $1,500-3,000 for and nice looking empty flush station when it can be done with stuff thats already laying around.
Without the deep pan I think that its about 16 qts. including TQ.

I like the idea of pulling off a cooler line and flushing the tranny, I used to do that on street cars I had back in the 70s', I do think that the truck needs to be running and in nutral however? some one set me straight if wrong.
