I have been thinking about changing my trans fluid I purchase the truck used I dont know if it has ever been change it has 180000 miles on it it seams to be runing fine should I get it flushed or just a filter change any tips or info , would be apprecated.98.5 dodge ram 24v 2wd

 

I would just do a filter and fluid change. It's not a good idea to do a flush on a tranny with that many miles cause you may loosen up some deposits that will cause more trouble than you want. Adjust the bands while you've got the pan off, too.

 

A flush is probably a waste of money, IMO. You can change the fluid and filter yourself and adjust the bands without any special tools. Do a search on here and also google "dodge 47re transmission band adjustment." ATS has some documents on how to adjust them yourself and it works pretty well.
