Trans filter and gasket

Needing to change my trans filter and gasket. From the big parts store all I can find is the cork gasket, is this what everyone is using or is there a better wat to go. I have also heard of the Grey silcone is good for this application. Any thoughts or sugestions?

The grey silicone seems to be the best I have ever used for diffs and oil pans.

The cork gasket should be fine.

If the trans. still has the factory rubber gasket it is typically reusable 3 to 6 times, if no one has over tightened it.

I've used the factory gasket at least six times on my race car (same as 727 trans). Torque it to 125inlb never leaks! If you don't have the "re-usable" gasket go to the dealer and get one. WELL worth the $$.

I never liked cork even though now there is more rubber in them. I make sure when I buy now that it has the neoprene rubber gasket in the kit. But I wouldn't worry about using the cork/rubber if I already bought it. It would be changed out in another 20,000 mi. anyway on my vehicles.
