tranny problem persist! 99ctd

hi guys, I have had some problem with my 99 ctd; it wont upshift at about 35 40 kmh, I think 2nd to 3rd gear.. when hot the problem is very rare. if I push on the gas hard it shift and if I leave the accellerator a bit usually it shift, a little hard. when cold in the first miles it's very hard that it shift..
I have replaced PRESSURE SENSOR, PRESSURE SOLENOID(transducer), SPEED SENSOR, TConverter & Overdrive SOLENOIDS with all wiring, ATF two times and filter; I have taken off the valve body and founmd a broken 3-4 Accumulator Spring replaced with Sonnax. I have also done the SUNCOAST reground of the APPS; nothing, the problem persist, now the rpms doesn't go up to 2000 2100 when it try to shift, they are in the normal range.
I'm very confused, what can I do? it can be a valve body failure? needs to be replaced? a shift kit can help?

any help will be much apprecciate! thanks to all here for the help.

The throttle cable to tranny may need adjustment along with KD band adjust. The band should have been done at same time ATF+4 was changed. You can get +4 in Italy?????
Basic adjustment on TV cable. With lever at tranny fully forward (spring loaded) against stop you should have no play in cable. Immediatelly on moving pedal the lever on tranny also moves.
Hope this helps.

I used Royal Purple MAX ATF first time and then ATF +3. now I have ATF+3 in my tranny. regarding the TV cable, if I have play with the spring fully loaded? how can I adjust it?
it can be a stick valve in the valve body? I should try a shift kit like TransGo?

thanks

How many miles on the trans? A valve body would eliminate the electronics, but if the trans has allot of miles, maybe time for a rebuild.

ATF+3 is fine.
There is a adjusting device at other end of cable at the APPS. A agrevating clip is pulled out and cable can be adsjusted and clip relocked. It is self adjusting to a certain extendt(maybe).

I have 89k miles...I'll check the TV cable slack... I don't think I need an overhaul, tranny problem occur sometimes and sometimes not. when hot it mostly shift fine but not always. I'm out of ideas... maybe I'll try a shift kit

There is a inhibit on shifting when fluid temp is below 10 degree Centigrade which can cause delayed and no upshift into OD. At some even colder temp(-1 degree C.) there is different routine which delays all upshifts. Also if the transfer case is in LOW RANGE it will have a very quick shift into 3rd gear. If the theromstat is bad as in very slow warmup it will also mess shift pints up considerable. Heaven help if theromstat opens wide open on cold day. Some more of above will occur. Bottom line: four governor pressure curves and four distinct accompaning shift schedules. If that does not mess you up, throw in a engine performance problem and a viscious fan locking up. food for thought!

ok, here we have around 24 degree Centigrade or more now, my truck take a lot to go to the operating temp, I don't know if this is normal for a diesel(I know the big quantity of water in it(about 20quarts)) what the normal time or how many miles..?

Sorry if I got this wrong, your english is very good but I am having a little trouble following everything. Your trans won't upshift unless the rpms are very high or you let off the throttle? That sounds like kickdown band(also known as front band) issues. You're actually skipping 2nd gear because the band isn't holding the front clutch drum during the shift. Take the pan back off and see how much play is in the band.
Good luck.

sometimes wont upshift from 2nd gear, more gas on the pedal=rpms goes up, but same gear, wont shift unless I left the gas pedal and repress it. doing this it usually shift.
this occur mostly when I start the truck, in the first 10 20 miles.
sometimes, when it wont upshift from 2nd and the rpms are high, if I push down the gas pedal a lot(but not kickdown/not to the floor) it shift with rpms over 2000 but this shift is a bit hard.
When I drove it for 1 or 2 hours it almost shift properly.
I don't think this is a kickdown problem, I'll try it and see if it shift all gear; by my problem start I've never push the truck hard. I'm worry about tranny!
I hope you understand my situation/problem...sorry for my english!

Man with all the problems your having id just take it to a transmission shop and let them check it out. You are probably doing more damage driving it around and trying to get it to shift which will cost you in the long run. I ended up paying more on my rebuild because I waited untill it was completley un-drivable. While it may not make much sense to you, these things are complex inside. Its not like a manual trans.

I suspect if a qualified american tranny shop was around the corner, SmokingRam would not be in this situation.
I still think a valve body might be easy way out, if you thing the clutches are good. Did You look at KD band adjust as suggested????

I've already adjusted the front and rear band using TDR specs..
I've driven the truck about 800 900 miles with this problem, before decided to take out the VB, and after that I haven't seen any metal particle or soot in the new oil, it's very clean.
it's very hard find great and serious technician for our trucks here in italy..I bought all my parts from the usa myself.
I'll take a look out for a new valve body. any suggestion?
