Tranny Harsh Engagement into Drive

I'm having a hard time chasing down why my transmission engages forward so harsh. Going from park or neutral to drive, it immediately engages and jolts my truck forward an inch or two. It's very uncomfortable and feels like something is going to eventually give/break. It engages reverse fine and shifts between all other gears nicely. All downshifts and upshifts seem to be on time

A few things I've tried/checked:
1. Correct fluid level
2. I made sure the rear clutch check ball was in the valve body.
3. Checked the pressure spring setting
4. Checked the TV cable
5. Adjusted the bands

I keep suspecting the accumulator is not doing it's job because it engages the gear so quickly with a thud. Going from neutral to reverse I can feel the pressure/friction increasing before it finally grabs. However, I checked that the accumulator moves freely and that the spring is positioned correctly.

If anybody has any ideas please let me know. Thanks in advance.

I've seen afront clutch warped that caused it. Converter partially applied can do it too.

I went and checked the u-joints and they seem fine. Not much slop in the axle either.

How do I check if the converter is partially applied?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Recheck throttle cable adjustment. The throttle lever MUST be fully forward at closed throttle
