When I was looking to rebuild my tranny I stopped at several shops in town. They would only rebuild it to factory specs and called that "good enough". To unleash the true power of a CTD you need to get the power to the ground. Only after market tranny remanufacturers can get that done.

What Shovel said!

Contact the major Tranny rebuilders, talk with them about your driving habits, weight you tow, current and future HP improvements, and they'll be able to tailor a trans to your truck that will leave you wondering why you didn't do this YEARS ago.
My GB trans is the single biggest and best improvement I have made on my truck.
There are a few in the section at the top of the page, and I'll add www.gbtransmissions.com also.

Yup what he said, HTS, DTT or GB trans will all do a good job, but Dusty at HTS gets my vote. www.htstransmissions.com

If you read people's reccomendations, and their signatures they almost always name the same tranny builder. All of the big 5 can build you a good tranny, call and talk to them all, you will wind up liking one better I bet. Also see about a local shop that can install it for ya.

ATS and Suncoast haven't been brought up yet on this thread.

Well I guess they have then

Actually when I typed that part I had visions of 12 posts later someone feeling slighted because their builder hadn't been mentioned. You know how worked up people can get over their built autos Ed.

You will be so happy with a tranny from anyone of the ones previously mentioned it is unreal. It will be the truck that you wanted, NOT the one you bought from Chrysler.

My vote is for Dave Goerend. 563-778-2719, keep trying he is busy.

Most of those are just Band-Aids for a valve body that hasn't been modified.
The aftermarket rebuilders usually set up their transmissions to avoid the bolt-on fixes.
