Towing upgrades
Towing upgrades
My truck is now out of warranty and I want to do some upgrades. I regularly tow around 15-16,000 I don't do a lot of around town driving or empty driving. Just running the EZ I can get to 1150 -1200 fairly easy on long grades. I have a pretty good idea of what to do from searching and reading this board but would like some specific input from some of you who tow regular with bombs. What Turbo, box,air system or injectors etc. I have a pacbrake and really don't want to remove it but would if that was the only way to achieve what I want.
What I am looking for is horsepower somewhere in the 350- 375 range and the ability to keep speed up on long grades without having to back down because of EGT's too high, no need for the mods if I can't go faster than I can now. Looking to get a nice flat torque curve in the mid range rpm area.

You need to get your EGT's down before bombing more. Go with a better flowing intake like the Scotty II, K&N, or BHAF. Then exhaust work will lower them more. Straight pipe is good, but a 4 inch system is better.
towing Bombs:
Mach 1.5 injectors
TST powermax competition
Scotty Air
4" exhaust
Dodgezilla turbo.
This will give you all the power you can think of for towing and leave you with good EGT control.

Cummincowboy,
As stated in an earlier post, air in and air out is a good place to start. The better the air flow the lower the EGT's. Your Hp range do not go larger than a 4" exhaust.
Altitude has alot to do with EGT on a diesel. The more Altitude the hotter a diesel will run and the more air it needs to keep it cool. Is your wastegate disabled and how high of boost are you seeing?
It's hard to recommend an injector without knowing your current boost and altitude your running at. Remember to shift down into a lower gear if Boost is low and EGT are high, shifting down and higher RPM's will force more air through the engine to help cool down the EGT's.
