Throttle issues?

Hello all.... Just bought a 2002 2500 4x4 with 90,000 miles with an auto tranny. Just been driving and at times the throttle will go blank when trying to accelerate. It dose it at all speeds every now and again. I know these don't have a throttle-positioning sensor but do they have anything similar to be replaced or serviced? If this in not a common problem what about a computer that might have been miss programmed. Sorry new to the 2nd Gens. If I still had my 1993 it would be fixed by now. Thanks alot-Corey

Welcome...
Now the short and dirty...

Get a fuel pressure gauge installed ASAP as the VP (injection Pump) will fail if it does not recieve a positive supply of fuel form the Lift pump, most always the LP fails and takes out the 1200+ VP. so spending a 100 on a gauge is a good investment, Also replace your fuel filter if condition is unknown

Next pull the codes, you have either a bad VP or a faulty APPS (TPS) On your truck you can cycle the key 3 times and watch the Odometer windo it will list the codes in there, sometimes the windo wont display all of them and that case you'd need a scanner

do a search for "dead pedal" you will read for days!

I will 2nd the fuel pressure guage advice - drove my '01 4x4 for 6mo without it and learned this at a cost of 2,000.00 +
also, it is my understanding that there is a tps/apps (different abreviations for the same sensor) I have a simillar thread under throttle issues; read to check the solutions/info there. Finally, my throttle issues were due to a bad diode in the alternator that was not throwing a code - replaced alternator and all is well - alternator malfunction was due to a wiring mistake on my part when wiring up a flex lite e fan.-

Thanks wil do. Thanks for the start. Would it be in the best intrest of buying a aftermarket "upgraded" lift pump to keep the fuel pressure at a constant supply? If so what would you recommend? I don't plan on bombing the truck I like the mpg and power where it is.

Most definitely worth it. I am partial to Airdog myself, but whichever brand floats your boat. Anything is better than the stock lift pump. Do get a fuel pressure gauge though, they can save you many headaches...

P1693 means nothing by itself, it just means there was another code in the ECM/PCM at some point in time.

Ok....thanks for the info it is much appreciated. I will start shooping for a new lift pump and gauge. I will start with the APPS and go from there. Keep the ideas coming.

You need to have the codes pulled first, you might change a part when you dont need to, if you do need an APPS do a search for "Timbo" he sells an improved APPS for 160$ if you get one from a dealer your looking at 600$+ average price anywhere is 500$

I'd instal a pressure gauge first, if the pressure is fine I'd run it till the LP starts to fail or get weak, then I'd get an Airdog
