In tank pump
I have truck in sig with the in tank pump that Dodge bought and paid for. I can't get below 5psi at any time, pressure is good. That said, my truck also has the Scotty kit on it, which eliminates the banjo bolts. Scotty is out of business now, but Vulcan makes a similar kit.
All 2nd gen trucks need a way to monitor FP, need a big line kit, and shouldn't have any banjo bolts IMO. No FP issues here at all, even when held at WOT to illegal speeds.

My lift pump is at 10-12 idle, usually 9 around cruise, 4-6 under heavy throttle. Some here would consider that "low psi", but I feel there is no prob with it. If you saw the orfice size where the return line goes on a VP you would see you are not going to get alot of fuel return.
You must check you in service date. The last 2002s came with a 7yr and 100,000 mile warranty. I know this because that is when I bought my truck which I still have. This was done at the end to clear out all of the remaining stock of second generation trucks.

A couple of weeks ago I installed Vulcan fittings with 1/2" line from the metal fuel pipe on the frame rail to the VP44. I also installed a fuel pressure sender at the VP44.
My fuel pressure gauge is showing 9psi idle and 6psi WOT. This weekend, I'm going to add a Holley pump on the frame rail along with a Racor fuel filter/water seperator.
Also, I'm currently getting approx. 17.4mpg!
