superchip causing my engine light to come on
i have a 2002 2500 with 84,000 miles i decided to get a programmer, my local truck store sold me a superchip programmer(3705 i think)
as soon as he programmed it the p1694 code came up(no buss message to ecm) before ever starting the truck
he cleared that code and i drove it, i could tell a little difference, after about 10 or 15 miles the light came on again, this time it was the one about an injection pump timing failure, i cant remember the number o2o4 i think
also going down the road the engine will surge, then yesterday it kinda fell on it's face and cut out and the light came on again this time it was the no buss message to ecm
i have backed the program out and it does fine no lights no nothing but sadly no power either
what should i do, did i waste my money?i just want more mpgs
thanks jay

You most likely have issues that have nothing to do with the programmer. For starters you need a fuel pressure, pyrometer, and boost guages to help diagnose your problems.

If you got the 0216 code it usually means VP44 time.
I don't think that the tuner can cause intermittent no bus messages errors. (But this code can happen while reflashing the ECM with the tuner and stay stored)
The symptoms of cutting out etc do sound like a VP44 kicking the bucket to me.
Does your truck have harder starts when warm?

Take the programmer back! The schip is nice and works well but there are other programmers far superior on the market. I've been that route and had a schip installed. IMO... Go buy a Quadzilla XZT+. Much better product w/on the fly adjustments, easy updates and program downloads and probaby cost less. The support from Quad for the 2nd gens is great. As far as the P0216 code=injector pump timing failure. Like stated above get gauges(extremely important). Your IP was probaby on it's way to going out and after installing the schip, it made it more noticeable by increasing the timing/fuel.

The P1694 code is fairly common when just flashing your ECM. It usually goes away after a few cycles, but doesn't mean anything in and of itself. FP guage is a must with a chip, though....

2002 dodge with superchip programmer
i have an extended warranty,do you think they will honor it,will they be able to tell that i put the programmer on? do i have to wait till the engine light comes on again to steer them to the ip or lp (with the program erased the light doesn't come on)what should i do?
