Stock pressures

Hey guys just trying to find a median of what the a safe stock fuel pressure should be, along with boost and egts. The truck has a intake on it and 4inch duals. Soon to have a chip and before i do that we were just wondering the stock pressures.

My mech. fuel pressure gauge reads just shy of 15 at idle. Lowest I've seen is about 11 at WFO.

my stock setup has been 14 at idle and 11 wot. lately with the cold blasts it has dropped to barely a heavy 12 at idle and maybe 7-8 wot. but when it warms up pressure goes up...

Im not quit sure so dont take it as gospal but i think for fuel presure below 8 is bad. Egt above 1250 stuff starts getting toasty and without turning it up you wont see above 20 on boost but once again im no expert and pretty new to this. SOme body that knows will chime in sooner or later.

The Cummins place here in town, which has a very good reputation, better than the Dodge dealer said if your at 5psi you are getting in bad mojo territory. So keep it above 5psi. The thing that gets you is flow. Mine LP had low flow.....according to dealer, but was showing 7-12 on my 1200 mile journey. I figure these performance people need to start selling flow meter gauges for these VP44 equipped trucks. Also with the flow keep in mind that 70% of your fuel sent to the VP44 is sent back to the tank. This 70% is used for cooling and lubrication purposes. So if you have low flow and your gauge is showing good pressure, as mine did you'll get the P0216. I was told by a very good friend who works for a dealer, on the Cummins that if you get the P0216 that your LP has most likely starved the VP44 enough to cause damage.

The 70% part was taken directly out of the Dodge service manual, so this is not the I heard it from my brothers girlfriends, sisters moms hair dresser kind of information. Also I have heard that the dip tube in the tank is small which will cut down on flow.

I get a little confused over flow verses pressure. If there is 10 lbs at the pump inlet at wot then the flow has to be there also?
