Still getting great mileage!!
Still getting great mileage!!
I had some doubting Thomas's on my last post but here is another one. On my weekly I-75 trip from Knoxville to Atlanta, this time going south, I got 24.4 mpg. This was hand figured and my overhead gave a reading of 24.9.
I was burning B10 with a small dose of PS silver. The cruise was set on 62mph and the a/c was on max. The old girl has 104,000 miles on her now. I tell ya what boys..... This is the best vehicle purchase I have ever made. I just keep a grin on my face all the time driving my CTD.
I had a Ram with the 360 gas before this and it got 17 mpg going downhill with a tailwind and me hanging my rearend out the window breaking wind.
I also notice a lot of other people have slowed down on the interstate, so it's not as dangerous to drive 62 as it used to be. On the trip back to Ktown I am going to set the cruise at 64mph and see how it affects the mpg. I'm trying to find the fine line between time saved vs. fuel consumed. Of course that varys with how much money you have in your pocket and how much time you need to save.
I'm gonna go out right now and give the old girl a rubdown.

people look at you sideways when you tell them that ! I had some friends with me on a trip with my 2001 HO and got right at 26 MPG on 1 tank the others I would nail 24+ .Like you 62 mph seems to be the sweet spot ! none of the others seem to get that good the next best is the 1991 w250 5spd at 18-19 but it has 4;10s
