steering box adjustment

steering box adjustment

buddy at work today was saying he heard you can adjust these steering boxes to take out the slack. is he right? and if so, how?

There are 2 adjustments in the FSM. There is a link somewhere here. Perhaps it is on Genos also. Don't over do it.

Bottom of the steering box is a threaded stud with a locking nut. Lossen the lock nut make adjustment, tighten locknut. Like he said don't over do it. Check for the torque specs. Don't know them off hand.

bearing pre-load must be done first then do the overcenter adjustment, both adjustments can be done wih the box in the truck, takes 20-30mins
