Steel Seal, anyone.....

Anybody used this product? One of my 01's has developed a small head gasket leak at the front by the t-stat housing.Nothing excessive yet. They guarantee it to stop leaky h-gaskets,just a little pricey.($42 abottle and it will take 2 for the 5.9)

I really know nothing about the product but I'd be worried about future issues like possibility of clogging ports/passages, having a gunk/goo you can get rid of later when doing the REAL repair (which you'll eventually have to do) and getting the product into either the cooling system or the oil though the break in the head gasket while it's stopping the hole up...IF it even can at $42 bucks a bottle...

Try pepper for small leaks, works good and does not clog anything.
I've been told by an oldtimer that an egg (crack it into the rad) will stop a large leak.

It could also plug up your heater core. Iv'e replaced head gaskets before after someone has used it and the gaskets are soft and swelled up everywhere it has come in contact.

i would rather plug the outside of the leak with a bit of J B Weld than use that other stuff.

That's a common spot for a leak. Mine weeped for over a year before I replaced the head gasket. Best thing to do is pull the head and put in a new gasket. There is a difference between new and old gasket, new has more material around that water jacket.
