Starting woes. Grid heater related

My truck started having starting problems a few years ago. It turns over fine, it just won't start. I've narrowed it down to a grid heater problem, I just don't know where to go from here.
When you first turn the key to "on" you get all the idiot lights on for a moment so you can tell if they are working or not. My "WAIT TO START" light is intermittent during this check. If it does not come on the truck will not start. If I cycle the key off then back on the light may or may not come on, but untill that light cycles as it should the truck will not start. It will turn over. Some times the "WAIT TO START" light will come on a few seconds after the rest of the lights and the truck will start, but it will not start untill after that light cycles on.
I feel that what ever controlls the grid heaters is what is at fault. Has anyone else had this problem or know hoe to fix it?
Thanks

Likely something in the PCM or wiring then. You don't really need the GH's to start in Panama City Fl. even on the coldest days, so it not coming on is an indicator of another problem that is also causing your VP to not provide fuel. I would pull the PCM connectors one at a time and look for corrosion or dirty connections, then look at every ground.

Thanks a lot. I'll try that this weekend. The grid heaters stil work when the light cycles on, except now that its warmer. I just didn't have a clue where to look past the relay box.
