Stalling issue
Stalling issue
I have an 02 2500 with 86,000 miles. Recently, I've had a stalling issue with no throttle response. I have been able to correct it by engaging the clutch, shifting into lower gear or rev-ing the engine. I don't know where to begin, fuel filter or sensor? Any ideas? Thanks!
Welcome!
any trouble codes? if you don't have a scanner try cycling the key on-off-on-off-on (not to start, just to run) the existing codes will be displayed in the odometer display. sounds like APPS or injection pump going south...

APPS is Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. It is located under the intake horn on the left side of the engine. Cable runs from the pedal to the APPS, where it converts mechanical movement into voltage readings for the PCM and ECM.

I guess I don't have this diesel language down, yet. VP44 = vacuum pump? Where is that located?
I have heard many things on this post from sensors to VP44's. I am figuring on starting with APPS sensor and work my way up.

Look on the top of your intak manifold at the front of the engine on the drivers side. The intake horn bolts to the intake manifold. The other end of the horn attaches to the inter-cooler tube that runs down to the bottom of the inter-cooler. Your dipstick also is anchored to the intake horn. Directly in front of your intake horn, you'll see a black plastic cover. Take the plastic cover off and you'll see the APPS.
VP-44 is the injection pump. It's located below your APPS. On the back of the injector pump, you'll see the 6 high pressure lines that feed your injectors.
Good luck!
