How many splines does the axles have on my spicer 70 rear end?

most likely 35 spline.

On Dodge applications they are 32 spline. Been there, bought the LS guts, and the new axle.

Mine's got 35 spline axles. Just pull an axle so you know for sure.

All 2nd gens that have a D70 are equipped with a D70U....the U is only available as a 32 spline.

so most likely it is a 32 spline? I looking to switch to a posi unit. I just need to know before I buy one. The truck is at the body shop so i can't pull an axle out.

Yes, 32 spline. I know my 99 rear was, because I had to pull one of those axles and put it inot my 2001.5 rear after a sled pulling incident, then the LS unit rebuild after another sled pulling incident had me counting splines, so I'm quite sure.
