i checke the batteries for the third time and they are still good. awhile bak it would drain overnight.. and barely start in the mornin. then the weather got warmer and it was startin fine for the last 2 weeks. but now it turned colder again and yesterday it woldnt start... is there a common thing that shorts these things out or do i put a tester on it and start pullin fuses?? any suggestions? thanks

Maybe the grid heaters are malfunctioning.

I had the same problem not long ago. I finally had to plug it in just to get it warm enough to get it started. It's about to get cold again so we will see what it does

a simple test, after the truck has sat for a while touch each relay, the warm relay is the circuit that is staying live. If you have a infrared thermometer you can use that also. If that does not work it is time for a parasitic draw test. Does any one know the correct amperage draw on these trucks when all computers are fully asleep?

well if i lived closer I'd come take a look. I,m sure somebody knows some of the common things that go wrong on these trucks. I was an Electrical systems specialist for Landrovers 2yrs and can tell you every time it was something different. One thing I did learn is that aftermarket accessories were the first place I would look. other than that one thing that might help is to just go sit in the truck as if it were parked. key out doors locked or what ever you do and sit and listen for about 10 minutes you might notice what does not turn off. One time i had a A/C blower motor that would cycle on and off very slightly and only noticed it cause I heard it. That was on a Rangerover though but the system is very similar to ours.

I would remove the battery terminals and clean the posts and the terminals. Are the batteries the originals? if so I would think it's time for new ones... If the batteries are minimal then they might have enough juice to start if the grid heaters don't engage but when it's cold they will turn on and the engine oil is also thicker (unless you use synthetic) so more amperage draw to turn the engine over..
