So just developed a massive oil leak

So got a couple codes the other day for IAT and Boost sensor. Replaced them both, no fix. Checked all grounds, nothing. Heard a couple people say possibly ECM. Exchanged that same thing happening feeling like it is missing or just not running right.

Also checked fuel pressure on VP44 and it shows consistent 7-10psi so thinking its not the IP

So today going over to my buddy for him to fix and it goes to no oil pressure. I pull over check and everything looks fine no oil leak plenty of oil and I only have 2 miles to go.

Notice on the way there that it is just pouring out white smoke all the way there. Get to his place turn off engine(running exactly the same as when i left) Massive oil leak under my truck, over the whole engine looks like its coming from the front seal on the motor.

So anyone have this happen to them? It is the 2002 with only 130000 on it. Seems a little early in milage for things like this to happen?????

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Look carefully at front cover near fan drive. Now talk about different directions of issues! Keep us posted.

I had a similar experience, when I looked under the hood, my puke bottle had disappeared completely, so anytime it needed to the engine was venting all over the front of everything, nasty mess.

Its definitely not the puke bottle. It was blown everywhere, and my puke bottle has been thrown away and a line ran to the back of the tranny.

The fan thing?? You mean the water pump area maybe?

Mine did something very similar. Dumped all the oil out the puke bottle, coavered the whole front end of the engine in oil. Found two bad injectors and more going out. Wound up with fuel in the oil and dumped it out the hose that went to the puke bottle.

Sounding like what happened to mine. Mechanic is looking at it right now. We are hoping we didn't melt a cylinder down. But only time will tell.

Check your oil now for any signs of diesel in it. Possibly bad injector.

I think what dozer was gettin at is the possibillity of a KDP issue cracking the timing case and causing a leak. Not too common on the 24V but still possible.

So which truck is he talking about? the 01 or 02. I doubt he has a case of the KDP, but who knows.
I was told by the KDP guru Wannadiesel that my 99 didn't need his fix because it wasn't an issue.
No telling what Chrysler did.

So mechanic is tearing the head off, looks like the injectors might have taken out at least 1 cylinder. But will know more tommorow. This kinda sucks I have kept it well oiled and did not notice anything till those engine codes went off and had it towed back to my house.

I'll let you guys know what I find out tommorow.

On my 01 at 100k when I rebuilt the engine, I had to tap mine back in a 1/8" or so.

Food for Thought

So ended up being number 6 was completely burnt out and piston melted down. The mechanic believes it was a faulty install on the vp-44 when it was put in by the last owner. That thing ran like a raped ape so much so I had always wondered if there was something wrong with it.

I guess the melted down AIT sensor would have been a good clue. I guess I will know for next time. His buddy just wrecked a 02 6 spd HO engine with only 70K on the odometer so picked that up fairly cheap and he already put it in.

Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. But that was his best guess on what happened.
