Small fuel leak from below front - near puke bottle
Small fuel leak from below front - near puke bottle
Hello
Just wondering if anyone has any "general ideas" as to what to look for from below the engine, I have what looks to be a fuel related leak? I can see drips of fuel/oil that are lingering just below the steering linkage, front of oil pan, forward of steering stabilizer,etc.. I'm starting to get 1 or 2 drips/stains per day on my concrete drive in the same location when parking for the day.
I know on my Ford powerstrokes, almost every fuel/oil leak came from a faulty o-ring. Are the Cummin's known for these types of issues too?
Can the puke bottle overflow and create this type of problem? I havent checked it yet.
Thank you - Joe

Probably is the puke bottle. Take it off and dump it. My truck never even came with one, just a puke tube. Other places for leaks would be the power steering pump/vacuum pump to the timing case, or leaks out the supply or return lines in the VP44. Those would usually occur after removing and reinstalling. Not something that would usually just start. Check the bottle first.
Remove the bottle, extend the hose below the fan, throw the bottle away. It will only lead to covering your radiator with an oil film which attracts dirt and eventually restricts air flow. I r/r several radiators a year to clean this muck out to prevent overheating issues. (that's desert talk though....maybe a little "air restriction" is just what a snow zone guy needs).
Chicago - is this an oil or fuel leak. Your tite says fuel but the replies are about the puke bottle.
Here is my post from earlier today and I am having a leak at the fuel filter housing on the valve itself. Are there O-rings behind this valve? It seems that is what you are asking, but unclear.
Hopefully someone will respond.
