Small antifreeze leak

While under my truck fixing the leaky diff cover I caused when I swapped my fuilds, I noticed a small amount of anitfreeze has dripped down around the front oil pan bolts. It appears to be coming from over by the serp. belt idler.

? any ideas?

I knew someone was going to ask that, I ran out just after I posted........

I can't see a 53 anywhere. The only thing I really see is a big "M", and an "ABC".

It has the belt and idler pretty well wet, but the rad. and tank are topped off? Muat have just started, where ever it is.................?

Under the oil filter mount is says "B".

Under the VP44 where the pan bolts up it says "4BC"

Anyone ever heard of a pinhole in the water inlet neck (thingy) where the top hose connects? The underside of it is green, It would be tough for it to get up that high if it was leaking any lower than that. Unl;ess it is being sprayed up there from the belt?

(if you know what I mean....?)

sorry but i cant remember if it had a weep hole or not. take the belt tension off and spin the pully. you can feel a bad bearing.

Yeah, I just fired it up to see what was happening under there, shes difinately spraying of of the belt (hence the wet neck).

I'll pop the belt of and check like you said,

Thanks for the tip.

It is kinda noisey. Little bit of play front to back too, not sure if that is normal though?
Is is supposed to be totally smooth and quite when you spin it?

THIS
is what I am looking at right?

Yep, the water pump is toast. Should be no play, and it should not feel rough or make noise when turned. A new one will not "spin" because the seal has too much drag, but it will be smooth and tight.

You will spend more time draining and refilling the system than swapping pumps.

And yes, that is a Cummins water pump. I got mine for about $15 less than that at a heavy truck parts house, so you should try that if you have one local.

Thanks Dave. Looks like Auto Zone is going to spank me $59.00 for a new one with lifetime warranty. Just in time for me to sell or trade it, sweet! Might as well throw a new serpentine belt on there too, mine is all crackly on the inside
Don't have much of a choice, I am working on one of my aunts rentals up in West Chester this week, can't be broke down..............

Drove a new 6 speed, silver dually SLT yesterday, as soon as I get a decent buyer for my truck and we hash out the last few hundred or so on the new one she'll be mine!!!

Okay, you guys aren't done yet.
Whats the best way to drain my system? Is there a petcock somewhere or an I going to take a bath popping the lower hose?
