Welcome to DTR!

Sure, most of us have tossed that ring in the trash. Cheap (free) simple, and let her sing like a fat chick! (Fat chicks need love too! )

Use the search function on "silencer ring" there will be many threads & lots posts.

I had tossed my silencer ring out too. Mine was kinda hard. Sometimes they are easy and sometimes they are not. Make sure that you don't crack the housing thou.

I didnt notice too much difference untill I put on the BHAF or my AFE unit
The stock box does a pretty good job of muffling the sound.

For a quick and simple way of getting your ringless turbo to sing louder.

Pull the black tube out of the fender. The air intake to the filter box. (FREE)

-OR-

Just install a BHAF (Big Honkin' Air Filter) Cost you $50-$60 This makes mine really sing loud!

To really get it singing... Straight pipe the exhuast! Cost about $30-$40

I think the bombing bug has bit again...

One problem with removing the ring is it decreases turbulence and effeciency.

The reason the turbo is louder is because of the air disruption.

I kinda wish i could put mine back on.

Any restriction in the intake that isnt a smooth transition hurts.

I took mine out when I put the Scotty II in. "The Boss" took one ride in it and made me put it back in. She was right, though. It was pretty annoying.

There have been dyno runs with and with out the ring with no loss in power. Almost all Holset turbos that Cummins uses do not have the silencer ring. Cummins only put it in at Dodges request.

Ring

I read a post about it last night and took it out today. There was not a big difference sound level, but I do here a high pitch sound that sounds cool. The snap ring was a pain in the *** to remove, some guys have an easy time with it from what I read here.
