Angry Silencer Ring

Aight, I've tried everything to get that d-thing out. I am not totally mechanically un-inclined so I don't know what the problem is. The space where the snag ring splits is at the top part of the turbo housing so I can hardly see what I am doing to begin with and I can't seem to get a screwdriver in the right position to pry it out far enough to get something in there......Anyone in the dallas area want to come tackle this before I blow the truck up

The ring should be able to "spin" it around to a different spot where you can better see it.
You can handle it!!! Step back, take a deep breath.

Do you have a pair of needle nose vise grips?

A pair of pliers and a flat head screwdriver will do the trick make sure you not putting metal shavings into the turbo.

Got a hook Pick or other sharp instrument?you may be able to jab in the grooved spot and then get your pliers on it?

Grab one side of the split and pull down, stick the flat head in the gap and work your way around should have it out in a couple of seconds.

Good Luck!

grab one of the sides with the needle nose? Are you kidding how? There is no room to get needle nose pliers in there.

When I took my ring out, I simply took two smaller flat head screwdrivers and got one under the ring and then took the other along and popped it out to where I could get a hold of it finally, and then the Silencer itself is very easy to pop out!

I did the two small screwdriver method... Works quick...

Here is what the snap ring looks like so you understand what side to dig at...

I know which side to dig at, it is just at the top of the turbo which is extremely hard to get to...

I played with mine for a while on 3 separate occasions. Finally just got lucky and popped out with a screwdriver.

I used a scratch awl that is straight on one end and 90° on the other. Took a little doing, but it came.

Take a 90 Deg seal pick and get under the one corner to get it started and then insert a small screw driver between the snap ring and the turbo housing, and walk around the snap ring with another small screwdriver.
