I imagine this has been discussed in the past, but since I am new to this site, I'll ask and see what response I get.

I have a 2002 2500 4x4 LB, 3.55 diff, some "improvements" such as KN filter, Gibson exhaust, Super D chip. Course the truck has the 47 transmission.

I am getting some shudder/stutter while shifting gears, expecially under load when towing my 5er. Also get the shudder/stutter when trying to excelerate while in OD or when the engine is lugging a little. I have had the tranny checked and it is ok. Have read what I think is the problem and it involves the driveshaft.

Would appreciate any information on this problem, it is driving me nuts.....

 

Sounds like your torque converter lockup clutch slipping to me...time for an upgrade

 

You are going to find the prettiest purple/blue ring on the front of your torque convertor when you pull it/ have it pulled out. Clutch is slipping and it seems like if it gets bad enough to feel it once, it won't be long till it's gone. I felt mine do that as I pushed my rig out into traffic once in Phoenix. The trans hit lock up as I was still in it pretty hard and with the race trailer behind me it shuddered like crazy. Backed off it and was very carefull the rest of the way home. Next weekend made a 2400 round trip empty and it was fine. Pulled out the convertor and it had definately gotten hot. Didn't have the $$ for the one I really wanted so I threw another stocker in it. Time will tell......
