Sensor for overhead console?

Where is the temperature sensor for the overhead console? Is this the temperature reading that tells the engine to speed up for cold fast idle?

that seneor is mounted is several places. BUt to answer Your Other question NO it has nothing To do with the engine fast idle or cold idle. If you want the truth any readings that come from the over head a Unreliable. the engine idle come from a combo of the engine intake sensor, and the engine colant senser.

Thanks that is what I figured. I just got the high idle installed yesterday. Does it matter if the transmission is in park or neutral?

See: http://www.neonix.org/nero/files/2001ramsrvcmanual.zip

Section 8M-11
"Ambient air temperature is monitored by the compass
mini-trip computer module through the ambient
temperature sensor. The ambient temperature sensor
is a variable resistor mounted to a bracket that is
secured with a screw to the underside of the hood
panel near the hood latch striker in the engine compartment."

My tech told me it was better to put in neutral because the trans fluid does not circulate in park. But I rarely do it.

It wont do high idel or 3 cylinder in neutral. It has to be in park. 3 Cylinder is really loud compared to the already loud cummins. Eats fuel too..... alot of fuel...

On your '99 yes, but on my 2002 it's mounted to the hood latch, hood side.
