screwed by dealer
went to get my computer reprogramed with my new tire size. when i called he said all i needed to do was bring it in and they would do it for 20 dollars. i take it in and he guesses at the rpm and is way off. i take it back and tell him the web site for the tires says 633 rpm so he reluctantly sets it to that. it still is reading 5 mph fast at 70 mph. so not i am out 20 bucks, and i have a speedo that was closer to being right before he "fixed" it. and the other dealerships wern't even interisted in attempting to help. If this is 5 star service, i will never buy another dodge product, and i have already had 4.

Consensus is that 99% of the Dealers don't know what they are doing regarding reprogramming.
If it is a TSB issue, all they have to do is load an entirely new program, easy.
If they have to go in there and find stuff, like tire sizes or cold weather idles, they are clueless.
Take it back and insist that you watch over their shoulder to make sure they click the right boxes,
dot all the i's, etc, no charge of course.
Could be as simple as not clicking the "submit changes" box.
Oh, what size tires and what year truck?
The website could be wrong, the tires will have different circumfrences depending on how hot they are, what size wheel they're mounted on, etc.

If you're certain that it's 5 mph fast at 70 mph, that's 5/70, or 7.1%. If he entered the 633 revolutions per mile, the dealer needs to correct the entry to 633/(1 - .071), or 681 revolutions per mile if you want it to read dead accurate.

the beef is that when i talked to him the first time he said i didn't need to bring anything, and that he had all of the information. then when i went back he acted like it was some major deal to spend 2 min. with the programmer to fix it.

Yep, sounds like a dealer all right. The dodge truck w/ Cummins engine is great...until something goes wrong...i.e. warranty or when the dealer comes into the picture. After that you'll have more success changing the laws of gravity than getting to do anything....
