On the road again
On the road again
Got the '99 3500 back up and on the road today.
Bought it used, did OK until last week, stopped at a long light, put it in neutral, light turned green, can't get it in gear without shutting the engine off. Figured it to be a pilot bearing.
Tore it apart and that's exactly what it was, brand new clutch, new pressure plate and the flywheel looked brand new too. Input shaft had been ground down and cleaned up (a real amatuer job). Saw some metal flakes in the top of the transmission, time for a new input shaft and bearing.
Transmission with new bearing and input shaft, new throwout bearing, new pilot bearing and all back together and back on the road again.
Now if I can get the folks I got this truck from to honor the 1 year 12k mile warranty on internally lubricated parts, I'll be happy.
Sure does shift smoothly.
