Restacking Dana 80 limited slip

Lately I've noticed a very slight slip if one set of tires on either side are on ice and the opposite side is on pavement. It is so slight that you can only feel it on intitial start up. It slips about 1/2 to 1 turn at most. Once the truck has been driven 10 miles or so it is not there. However in snow I can see one side or the other spin a little on occasion. Both sides used to drive equally in the snow.

So if I take out the diff and restack the clutch plates to every other as we used to say, will this be too much?? I haven't had the Dana 80 apart before but I have done 60's and 70's. Our old Chev Crew cabs never had a problem with this ( stacking every other) in fact I don't remember having to put any additive in either.

I can live with a little "chunking" as I turn but I'd just as soon not prematurely wear out the plates.

The rear end is pretty leak free and doesn't make any gear noise so I assume it is in pretty good shape. Oil has never been changed and I added only about 8 oz 90-140 gear lube last year.

I'll be doing this by myself. I hope I won't need a case spreader.
