Removed silencer ring...

No big news, especially for you CTD veterans.

Took all of 2 minutes literally. Used a small pick to remove the snap ring and the cone came out in my hands.

I haven't taken it up on the highway yet, but around town it's more noticable than before. Not as drastic as some would claim though.

I like it.

What kind of air intake you got ???? That might be why you never noticed a big diffrence. The dtr members that noted a big change have high flow air intakes and they could hear thiers spooling real good with the ring in and without it its just that much more amplified.........I figger

My truck is bone stock right now, including the air intake. I am planning on upgrading that (and a list of other items) in the near future.

This Forum is a wealth of information, I could use the search and read for hours.

Thanks for the info

Doug, even stock, putting on a BHAF helps alot. No air box to muffle the sound. Straight-piping helps, too.

Excuse my ignorance.....BHAF?? I can figure out the AF (air filter), but not the BH.

Thanks

It was more noticable on mine...it happened by accident. After installing my K&N and remvoing my s-ring, I must have dislodged the boot. After a few weeks, I could hear my turbo a lot louder. Started hunting aroound and found the boot had slid out, so I just completely removed it...Although I have never had problems with leaves getting in there...just the occasional dead bug.

With a BHAF you get a lot more whistle. I pulled my ring 3 days after I got my truck. A little bit more whistle but no big improvement. So I ordered a BHAF, , a lot more whistle than the factory airbox.

You can get them from any Cummins distributor, or a Napa Truck Parts place.

Click here for a list of common part #'s.

The one for the Fleetguard BHAF is AH19037.

Once you get one and put it in, you will love it.
