Question Is this a remanufactured VP44?

I just removed the VP44 from my truck with 141,000 miles on it. I bought the truck last year with 135,000 miles and do not know the history of the truck. I believe the VP44 is bad because the truck looses power when driving and I have to push in the clutch and let the engine slow to an idle to make it run correctly again. After removing the pump, I believe it has been replaced at some point before. There is a tag on top of the pump that looks like a reman tag. I do not know for sure. Also, the threads in the pump drive gear were slightly damaged like someone installed a STD bolt, not metric when removing the pump. The return fuel line from the pump was spliced with a compression fitting, which does not seem to be what would have been used from Cummins.

Can anyone verify that this pump is a remanufactured pump??? See attached pictures.

The sensor has silicone sealant on it. Would it be this way from Bosch?

The silicon sealant is typical. The tag doesn't look particularly familiar to me...although I haven't looked at my spare VP44 in a while. Need to dig that out and check it. I know mines not rebuilt. I got it off a 2000 truck that had 10,000 miles on it.

The return line will go to the back of the head and tie into the return from the head with a brass T fitting...much like a compression fitting as far as looks. Is that what your refering to?

Even if it was rebuilt...there is no reason they should have butchered up the return line. It should have bolted right on no matter new or not.

The RX on the end of the number on the tag signifies it as a reconditioned pump.

I would think that is good, not bad...
