Redline MTL in NV4500?
I got a good deal on some Redline MTL. However, I have an NV4500 transmission. Will the MTL be OK in the 4500? I read about the greatness of MTL in the 5600, but most of the posts regarding the 4500 discuss using MT-90 or MT-90 mixed with MTL. I don't tow or haul heavy. Any comments?
I don't know a hell of alot about the NV4500, but what I DO know is that you should use the recommended lubricant for that trans which is Castrol Syntorq 75W85, I believe. Don't take any chances with your tranny.
It may work just fine. A tad lighter on the viscosity side, but it's a full synthetic GL-4 lube that's designed for manual transmissions. It has the proper coefficient of friction, to allow the synchros to function well, and is friendly to yellow metals.
I believe Redline themselves recommends the 50/50 mix of the MTL/MT90 to acheive that 75W-85 grade for the NV4500.

As I remember the MT90 from redline is more along what you need for the nv4500.
