Rebuilt tranny - now questions

Dad had the tranny in his '99 2500 rebuilt by a local transmission shop. He isn't 100% satisfied with how it is driving (not like when it was new) and he was hoping for some help. He said he has no roll on power. When he's cruising at speed and presses the go pedal to pass another vehicle it takes the truck longer to get up to speed. In his words "I can take a nap and wake up and the truck is still trying to get up where I want it". He feels there's not proper timing or communication between the pedal an the tranny (he's thinking programming or electronics of some kind?). He also says the tranny/truck feels tight, almost as if it is constrained with the parking brake. At first he was thinking it was just because it was fresh rebuilt but now he's not so sure. Lastly, his mpg is down by a few mpg. He mostly drives highway in S.Tx.

He sent me the receipt, here's the parts they used:

The first thing that bugs me is the 618 parts. The tranny in his is the 47re, right? Did they use the right parts? If not, what needs to be changed? Anything particular that would be causing the differences that he's feeling?

The only other change the truck has just had was he put on new tires & wheels. He kept the same size tire (285/75/16) but went from D to E load. The wheels were stock to the ones pictured from Discount Tire. They're not wide, only 8 or 9" tops (just a bit wider than stock so the tires had a good bead seat).

Thanks Kim. I agree, you'll see a dip going 265 to 285. But that's not what happened here. The truck ran 285s before and after the rebuild. The difference is the load range and wheels. There is some difference but I don't think enough to cause that big a mpg dive. I didn't see such a dip when I switched wheels (same tires) on my truck.

Told Dad to double check the fluid level. He's going back to the shop on Friday on his day off. I told him to ask that they check the bands.

Is the kick down working? If he is going for a pass it should kick down a gear or two depending on the speed...

After I got the Tahoe trans rebuilt it ran like a scared rabbit. I knew it was slipping and getting tired, but it really made a difference when rebuilt.

The auto's aren't rocket science, but if a job is botched you will know it.

I'll ask Dad if it drops down. I know he likes to pass people going uphill so he knows that to a science He likes to roll on easy so it doesn't downshift out.

OK, good.

That 618 may just be a part code or number, looks like its for a reverse band and/or parking sprag. Looks like the shift kit ordered is for a 48RE, which he may have, I know the newer ones are modeled after the old vacuum shifted 727 torqueflite, which IIRC uses the some of the same/similar parts.
