Real Cummins ECM??
Could you take the Chrysler ECM off of the engine and replace it with a Cummins ECM off of a ISB engine?? I was looking at some wiring diagrams and it seems like the Cummins ECM is much more simple not to mention having built in cruise controll and a very simple diagnostic system. Just seems like a better setup than the POS chrysler setup.
Although I suppose that it would work because the ISB engine in a dodge ram is the same as the ISB engine in any other truck assuming they are the same type of engine.
And as for the Chrysler ECM controlling the alternator and the gauges, Those gauges suck anyway and the alternator can be easly regulated with an external regulator.
So has anyone done this and can it be done??

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Just convert to a 12 valve and be happy. If you had a donor truck complete it would be possible. However I can't figure the problem. The ECM is Cummins and I have never heard of a real failure. The PCM is Chrysler and the real failure rate on it is quite low. I assure you many more good ones have been unnecessarily replaced than bad ones To me the wiring, sensors, and VP44are much more failure prone. JMHO
