question on VP44 care
question on VP44 care
I have an 02 with 80k. I use powerservice and 8oz of 2cycle oil per fill up. The issue is my warranty is running out this year. I am thinking about discontinuing the powerservice and oil to possibly help it decease under warranty. Does that make sense or is that not wise. I just would hate to keep babying it to only die a little after warrranty. What would you do? thanks
You might be better off with a proven injection pump. I had one warrantied straight from Dodge that gave me no codes and hard start issues when hot within 5k of the install. I had a very good dealer that worked with me and even though the issues were not proveable by me at their shop he warrantied the pump. Problems solved. Many dealers, possibly most dealers would have left me to fight the pump until it finally failed, only God knows where! FYI, of course it's likely he saw something in his tests that I don't know about but imo if your pump is working ok treat it right and count your blessings!
Taking it off of the additive is not going to kill the pump that quick if it kills it at all. We all know what kills the pumps but what we don't know is how long does it take for those things to kill the pump. Some pumps are stronger than others so they can stand more abuse. Look at mine. 134k on it and it's been tapped for 110k, run with very low fuel, run with no additives, run with 0 fuel pressure, etc. So there's just no certain way to figure out when these pumps are gonna die.

I got about six dead pedal - two 0216 codes on mine due to bad fuel -- It has been rebuilt and it did not kill it. I got bad fuel that plugged a fairly fresh filter. No noticeable damage - still had 6 lbs on the pump side of the filter but got codes - changed the filter and no more problems.
I run Lucas additive now -each tank due to ULS fuel. Does it help ??? Friend says he gets better mileage as they advertise.

As the others have said... It probably go out at 100001.. haha..J/K.. Just keep up the service.. better off keep the one in the hand... Mine's going to turn 200K today on the way home.. Maybe not abused as much as Blues.. but its run with low pressure.. no pressure.. and been tapped since 34K...
