Question about my truck

The other day i went to turn my truck on. I turned the key over and it just clicked nothing so i turned the key back in the off position and then tried it again and it worked no problems. What do yall think it might be?
You think my cables are loose i have checked them and they seemed fine except one of the negetive's but other then that they did seem fine. A friend told me it might be the starter, i hope not.

the starter contacts are going bad...they are about a 35dollar fix or so..i saw them in a magizine, had the same thing happen to my old truck and i just wasted the money on a whole new starter because i didnt check into it and didnt know any better...

No, it's easyish to do. I took mine to a local repair shop, and they dropped the starter, replaced teh contacts, and reinstalled the starter within the hour.

If the Starter contacts get much more worn, the starter will stay engaged even if you turn the key completely off. Some people notice the starter staying running and some people don't. If you happen to be the lucky one who does and is able to get the battery cables removed in time you might be able to save your starter. If not you can burn the entire truck down from an overheating starter.

The Engine will crank and run and the starter will stay running as well but for some reaon normally they don't make that "grinding" sound a regualr starter does when you try to re-start an allready running car.

Search for Larry B's starter contacts.

Most likely starter contacts but don't worry. I replaced mine with the larger ones available here. The job is a piece of cake if you are handy enough to pull and re-install your starter. This will save you a ton of money....

BTW, thank you JRS Dodge Diesel for the link...

This is because the starter drive gear remains engaged with the flywheel. The sound you get when you engage a starter on a running motor is the starter gear grinding on the flywheel...

contacts, larry bs, all that has been already stated but also it will blow your starter fuse under the hood also so if it doesnt do anything at all thats probably your problem.
