pto wire?

Tonight I found a wire tagged pto in the harness under the seal between the hood and the cowl. Whats it for? Is it somehow used to ramp up rpm for the pto?

Thanks Mooseman

That wire on a second gen will do you no good unless you are actually using a pto and it is hooked up to function when the pto is in operation. It does not affect control of the engine or idle but changes a couple of perimeters in the computer to work with the pto use.

A careful checking of the service manual will describe the function of this wire.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it could be used for a high idle.

there were many discussions years ago about this wire. on dodge trucks it disables certain functions when give a positive 12v charge. do not ground the wire. ive read before, it will not ramp up idle. if we had the 100 pin ecm used on the commercial applications this wire when given intermittent 12v charges will increase the idle incrementally 3 successive times, the fourth time a 12v charge is given it will go back to standard idle.
