problem need help

well looks like i need yalls help again. Never fails if I need good help come to you guys. Not a huge problem but I just changed the water pump on my truck first time and I have about 225000 miles on. Well after I fixed it and now Well when I plug it in to keep my motor warm well now it dont. Its not doing anything because instead of turning it on right away I have to wait like its never been plugged in. I wait now for the check engine light to turn off. Its been in the teens here and this thing takes forever to get warm. My question is whats wrong and how can I fix it. How much to fix it? Oh and I think my heater core is going bad I think I acan fix that my self.

Haven't worked on the CTD block heater but the first thing I always check on other
vehicles is to make sure the cord didn't work its way loose from the block heater.

I think these threads give some hints on how to test it.

I second that, it is usually the cord, however, if you had it plugged in with low coolant, that can ruin the element if it is exposed...

Changing it is not hard less than 30 min job. Troubleshoot the block heater first. you dont have your Vehicle info filled out so not sure on what year of truck you have so pulling codes would differ pending years. so try and pull any codes on the truck see if there are any. wondering if you have a grid heater relay out. I know when i had a grid heater relay out it would start but the wait to start light took about 20-25 sec when it was cold.
