Problem with 4wd Actuator

First off...thanks to everyone on this site for all the info I learned over the years...huge help.

Currently I am having a problem with my late model 2002, when I shift into 4wd the light on the dash does not come on all the time, sometimes does, sometimes does not. This has not been a problem yet, no snow here at the moment, but its on its way.

I looked at the front axle, I do not have the CAD system and I am relatively unfamiliar with the non-CAD setup. I believe my front end in turning all the time and only has power sent to it when shifted at the transfer case.

This being stated.....I assume when I shift into 4wd and the light does not come on 1) I have 4wd drive and there is a problem with the switch to the light or, 2) The lack of no light on the dash is indicating no 4wd.

I have been doing some research on this site with not much luck...anyone out there have any ideas!

Thanks again

Without the CAD system the switch for 4wd must be on the transfer case. When you pull the shift handle into 4 wheel it's in 4 wheel, unless there is seriously something wrong with the transfer case (you would notice). With a CAD I think the switch for the light is at the vacuum actuator on the axle.

Need to check the wiring at the switch, check the switch when the light is not working for continuity.
