Power steering box problems..

Anyone here have problems with there power steering box top loosing. About every 2 weeks I was having power steering problems and kept adding more fluid until I found out the problem. The 4 bolts on top of the power steering box were loose. I tightened them down and all was good for about a month and then they worked loose again. I put a new gasket on and lock-tighted the bolts and everything has been cool for about 2 weeks.

Is this a problem on all these or am I just lucky

I had that problem a couple times myself and have heard of others as well. I just tightened them up and then about 6 months later it did it again. A couple of those bolts are hard to get at. Second time around I torqued em down a bit more and haven't had a problem since and its been about 2 years now. I think what you did should solve your problem.

From what I have read on this site and some others, this is a fairly common problem. I had to tighten the bolts on my truck also.

When I replied earlier, I assumed "power steering box" just meant the steering box. If that is what you want to check, it is located in the drivers side front of your engine compartment, to the side of the engine.

I would check to make sure that your intercooler hoses are not rubbing on anything and that the clamps are tightened on all of your hoses. Some have had problems with the hoses rubbing and cutting holes in the hoses near the intercooler. I would also get gauges if the truck doesn't have them. Lift pumps are a problem on these trucks, so you definitely want a fuel pressure gauge. Many guys, myself included, also have an egt gauge and boost gauge.
