Power intermittent
While driving and I let up on the foot pedal and the rev's go below 1500 there is a drop off of power. Then when I press down on the pedal there is very little power, hardly enough to accelerate. I push in the clutch and let the engine accelerate above 1600 rev's and it will pick up the power again. This is intermittent and does not happen every time. While I am accelerate the engine with the clutch in there is white smoke coming out of the exhaust until the power comes back. This is happening more frequently each day.

use the search function for "dead pedal"
you will need to pull codes and check your fuel pressure. sounds very much like a failed VP44. pulling codes will help put you in the right direction to start
also read this thread to get up to speed on a VP diagnosis

Fuel pressure is good from my FASS pump. If the VP44 is causing this I think it is due the it receiving an erronious signal from some electrical input.

Got a similar issue, but mine is more noticable when in 4th or 5th, although it too is intermittent. Seems like it's getting enough fuel in the first three gears, but not enough in the higher ones. Checked out the APPS, hoping it was that, but no. I too have a FASS delivering good pressure, however I only put the gauge in 10 days ago, so who knows if there was a pressure drop earlier. VP44 is starting to make wierd noises, very quiet to very loud, and burning fuel like crazy. Ordered a VP44 last week, should be here tomorrow. I hope you don't need one, but sounds like you do.

you can call him to comfirm it (think its a typo error) but a 0216 is a wore out pump, and it will cause dead pedal, and drivability issues, as the pump is wore out mechanically.
Chip states in the "dead pedal" section if your APPs checks out and you have dead pedal issues you will need a VP.
usually dead give aways to a failing VP are
0216
dead pedal/ power loss
white smoke (unburnt diesel, due to improper timing)

0216 is the pumps inability to maintain correct timing. The white smoke and lost power is an indication of incorrect timing and is not going to get better.
