Pops out of fifth
Pops out of fifth
Hey guys, I've had this problem since I bought my truck, and have just gotten used to it in the way i drive, but it pops out of fifth. What I find wierd is that it only does it on deceleratation, or when going down a hill with no throttle. In my experience trannies usually pop out of gear on acceleration. I've read a bit about a locknut problem associated with 5th gear, could this be related to that, or maybe a chipped tooth/bad synchros? Thanks in advance!
Hi Tom, and welcome to the site; you'll find lots of good advice here, and most of it accurate! May I suggest that you fill in your signature line with what your truck is: make/model/year/tranny/etc, and include any mods that have been done to it. That way you'll get better (and more) responses.

Sounds like the 5th gear synchronizer.
Heres an example...

Yep, sounds like the same problem. Stupid thing is, the synchros were done the week I bought the truck, unfortunately, I bought it in Ontario, and had to be home, so I didn't have time to ***** and whine about it. It would have taken them another 3 days to fix it, then I would have been late for my first day on a new job. Oh well, extended warranty will cover it, I'll just have to wait till spring when I can get my motorbike back on the road before I can give my truck up for a week! Thanks for the help guys.
