Poll : Fuel additives & failures
Of all the folks that have lost fuel pumps or injector pumps:
1. How many were using fuel additives (on a regular/semi regular basis "prior" to the failure)?
2. How many have never used a drop of additives?
Of the folks that have never lost a pump:2. How many have never used a drop of additives?

No failures
No failures - ever - 150,000 mi
Have never put a drop of additives in the fuel (but I also only use major branded fuels - Chevron, Texaco, Shell)

1 lift pump changed under warranty at about 100,000kms, had VanAaken towing module on also since day one. Put FASS on at 150,000kms. I have about 230,000kms now, still with original VP-44. I have used Powerservice with Lubricity additive since I bought truck new in May 2000. Also add 4-6 ozs low ash 2 stroke oil every tank. I never run below 1/2 tankfull if I can help it.

changed to FASS after lp issues, may still need IP. Problems started with in 2,000 miles of first using addative. Bought truck with 120,00 miles so unsure of previous additive history. Rarely use additives now but was using for every other tank.

Lucas since new = 1 LP at 9,950 miles and no VP44 failure to date. The LP worked but did not maintain proper pressures. Apparently caught it just before it went completely out. I'm glad I had a pressure guage.
Not too much driving on this truck though. Truck only has 20,135 on it.
