P0216 again, need some help please

Ok about a month ago I posted that I got my first death code for the VP44. I took it to a dealer that I've had good luck with in the pastand they ended up just in-tanking my truck under warranty. They said that was the problem. The truck had 82000 miles on it when i took it in. Now I have 84,000 and i got an instance of dead peddle today for the first time ever, so I checked my codes and sure enough the 0216 code flashed up again. I told the SM at the dealer that I knew that code had to do with the VP44 not the lift pump but didn't think so. So now I need to take the truck in again just barely a month later for the problem they didn't originally fix. Should I take it to the same dealer and complian but still be civil about it, or should i just take it to a different dealer altogether? I've had alot of good luck with this dealer in the past. I just don't wanna be jerked around with them trying to same its not my injection pump again when it clearly is. I figured my arguement will be i've had the dead peddle, fuel mile is been getting a little worse, and the truck doos seem to be low on power compared to what it should have. Oh, ULSD and winter blend fuel didn't have anything to do with my mileage. it was getti ng worse over the summer and then when my LP was replaced it went up a little.

The same thing happened to me....lift pump on first trip..... IP on the second trip.. It's the "game" you have to play. If they cleared the code when they replaced the lift pump and it came back they will most likely replace the IP this time... Good luck! Phil

On edit: don't forget to tell them about the low power when towing your "trailer".

Yeah they cleared the code and its definately back. Thats a good idea, I'll have to mention about how the truck seems to struggle towing my trailer. Thanks sixpack!

If you came in the shop with that story I'd sit your azz down in the waiting room while I put a pump on it. Talk to the diesel tech direct. If he doesn't give you the answer you seek, go elsewhere.

Thanks for the advise J body, I will try to talk to the diesel tech at my dealer. He is suppose to be a very good tech from what I've been told.

Well, I stopped in at the dealer today after work. They are going to be installing a new pump on my truck wednesday morning. I told the SM that I experienced dead peddle, power loss while towing, and the occasional engine stumble. He put an order in to have a pump ready for my truck wednesday morning, so I should have it back after work wednesday. Thanks for the help guys!
