Ive got a 2002 5.9l and its throwing that code. Whats the deal? Ive noticed a lot of these posts but im not too sure on what or how i can fix it, cheap, if possible!

 

P0216 ussually means you have a bad or on it way to being bad VP-44 injection pump. Cheap is buying the ip and installing it yourself. But that'll still run ya in the neighborhood of $1200.

Do a search on dtr for rebuilding the pump yourself. I know one guy had a thread on here stating part#s and his success on the rebuild. If and/when I get to the point of rebuilding the vp44, I'm going to do it myself. No fear, if it does not work out I'll just send it to my uncle and have him do it.
