overheated wheel

Yester day i went to town (about 10 miles) and when i got back i could smell something burning and when i checked i found one of my back wheel so hot i couldn't touch the rim.

I took the truck to a local garage real close from me and they took that wheel off but could not find the problem.

Does anybody here have an idea of what the problem can be?

I took the truck for the same drive today and it was fine. And i didn't leave my emergency brake on as i hardly use them. All the brakes were changed last july and the truck only has 60k miles .

No leaking gear lube? could be your alxe seal leaking gear oil causing the shoe to seize.

I was going to ask if it is a drum or disc set up in the rear? I agree probably shoe or caliper seizing. I had the same problem on a front wheel. Took the calipers off and wire wheeled the slides. Lubed them back up good and havent had any trouble since.

I'd be pulling that wheel frequently to check for leaks after you find the problem, or better yet just replace that axle seal now. If that wheel has been that hot, you may have melted the seal and it will leak gear oil.
