overboost code from fitting leak?

1st time towing today, since vp, lp, and gauges. Cargo was a 89 suburban.

The truck ran well on the loaded ride of about 50-60km, But the return trip empty, the truck kinda boged down from 100-80 dead pedal like feeling.
boost gauge was reading 20ish. The scangauge read the 0234 code and about 5 mins later I was able to clear it while driving. It stayed off for another 5 mins, then came back and stayed.

The other day I kinda pushed it to see what readings Id get and hit 25 psi of boost but didnt seem to have issues until today. I have the batts unplugged now, waiting...

My question is when I tapped the Boost gauge off the intake horn, the threading was quite loose and required alot of t-tape to seal at all, but I can still undo by hand after tighting with wrench. could that be causing the code?

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Sounds like tapped tooooooo deep. Sorry. Should not be causing the P0234.

I've got an over boost code but know that my waste gate is sticking. Stock max boost is supposed to around 20#. My understanding is that you need a boost fooler when intentionally running more boost. I've cleared the code with a scanner without disconnecting batteries but it resets with higher than 20#. The code hasn't been a problem.

Sounds to me like you are boosting over the stock limits and tripping the code. Unless there is a problem with the MAP Sensor/ECM you should not get that code (on a stock truck) unless you are boosting over the 20.5ish PSI.

Clear the code, and drive around for a while/a day without getting over 15-18psi of boost, and see if the code comes back.

I'm guessing a faulty wastegate actuator.

I hauled another 2 trucks to storage yesterday and it ran well, with no dead pedal or any bad signs. I dont think I can clear codes while I drive. I tried clearing this morning with the key on/engine off and it has stayed off all day.

as mentioned I did 'push the truck' while testing the gauges and hit 25psi boost, that must have triggered the code and I wasnt able to clear it with engine running. Funny the batteries disconected for an hour didnt do it.

I kinda suspect a wastegate issue, But Was the dead pedal I felt from the overboost making the ecm defuel?

preping now for the first 1300km trip after the vp

If you are feeling dead pedal and boost/Map Sensor codes are coming up, I would just double check all wiring for the MAP Sensor, make sure the plugs are clean and probably clean the sensor itself just for the heck of it.
