oil leak rear of engine
oil leak rear of engine
Hey Guys, It's been awhile since Ive been on. I just noticed a oil leak at the rear of the oil pan and it seems like thats where it is coming from but the all mighty dealer says its the rear main seal leaking. I just put a new Con/fe in in Aug. and when I had the tranny out the seal was fine. I,ve since only hammered it a few times on 5X5 and now I've developed this leak. I checked the oil pan bolts for tightness and they are fine. I still think it may be the pan gasket, as thats where most of the oil is sitting. It's not the overflow tube either as the dealer suggested. I checked the inside of the bellhousing through the clutch cylinder mount and I pulled the inspection cover on the passenger side upper engine of the bell housing and everything is dry. Im worried that if it is the rear main that it hasn't destroyed my new clutch. Any suggestions??????
The rear main seal is by far the most common leak. Does the 02 truck still have a small cover right at the bottom of the bell housing with 3 screws? It's usually the easiest place to verify the leak.
