Thought I had oil leak at vac pump. Turns out leak is not pump, it's coming from side of engine (about mid way, up high). Seems like right under intake. New to diesel, and don't really know what I'm looking for. Really appreciate any and all help.

 

Do you have a #53 block?

 

Not sure whrer do I look and what for. A stamp or something that has 53. thanks

 

There should be stampings on the block not sure what side.

 

Look for a raised 53 on the bottom(above oil pan) near the front, on the drivers side. I have one but no probs so far with 152,000M. The 53 block is known for cracking and coolant leaks on the exhaust side just below the manifold.

# 53 Block Would leak On Passenger side of engine..and would leak AntiFreeze.... (been There Done That)


Clean your engine real good and then run it to see where fresh oil is coming from,,....

I Think you had a 1998,,,,Do you have a 12Valve or a 24 Valve?
I see now ,,, You have a 1998.5 so it is a 24 Valve,, SAME AS MINE.
