nv4500 question

Well, its time to replace the nv4500 in my 98.5.. I found a vendor in memphis named High Gear transmissions. They are selling a reman nv4500 for around a grand. 5th gear problem has been addressed. Does anyone have any info on them? I hate buying stuff like this online but locally I get ridiculous quotes from 1350 for a junk yard unit to 2 grand for a reman. Anyhow, any input would be appreciated.

search "Tim Holt transmission" very well regarded on other forums by people whose opinion I trust. What is wrong with yours?

Mine started ticking when coasting on a recent trip. Drove it another 500 miles to the destination, and about 400 back to Indy where high started growling. Made it back to Bham with no real come aparts but its only a matter of time. It made some really bad noises from time to time on the way home as well.. I am not sure exactly whats wrong with it, but I know when I get the time to pull it out I will NOT have time to fix it just slap a new one in and go.. This truck runs a LOT.. I will check out Tim Holt..

thanks,
Jason

I bought a trans from High Gear. I would recommend them to ANYONE. They really seem to know their stuff, and offered a lot of advice. The price was as fair as any I have found. Steve talked with me about these transmissions for quite a while before and after I bought one, I was impressed and thats tough to do.
