nv 271 in a 01 dodge any one been here?
i was wanting to know if it is possible to put a nv 271 in a 2001 dodge with a nv5600. the nv271 i have came out of a 03 that also had a nv5600. so far all i can tell is that it is a little longer and someone told me that my axle dissconect will not work. any help here would be great.
Well I was doing just the same thing to my truck with the NV5600 and ran into trouble. I ordered up a NV271 and noticed it was much wider side-to-side. When I went to install, it hit the drivers side frame rail and then the bed of the truck. In speaking with the vendor they said that they had never heard of anyone experiencing the trouble I did but I might have to modify the frame rail. I would loved to have a 271 in my truck but not at the expense of my frame. I sent it back and am getting a NV241 that is being built extra hevy duty with the slip youke elimiated. I will have to have my drive shaft modified with a ford to accomodate the slip yoke. I hope to have my new transfer case by Wednesday and finish this up by the weekend.
Scottsjeeprolet here on the forums I believe has done it..... I know I saw one of the east coast boys from Maryland.
Perhaps it was Getblown5.9, before he got banned? I know it was an east coast member that sled pulled.

Everyone I have heard of that did the swap said that it DID hit the frame. I have heard of the frame being clearanced and also the tranny mount being slid over to the passenger side slightly to move the t-case over. This does cause the driveline to be on an angle in the truck but I have not heard of any issues as a result of that.
